Congratulations!!

to students of winning poster designs in the 4th Annual Josh Thompson Poster Contest sponsored by St. John’s Burn Center and the Sunshine Run.

1st Place–Nicholas Martinez

2nd Place– Mackenzie Bouse

3rd Place–Andrei Gradinariu

During the first quarter, every Willard Central Third and Fourth grade student completed a unit on poster design. Students studied the history of posters and observed several examples of early handbills, signboards, and posters. Art students read, discussed, and wrote about posters. Each student then created a poster design for the Fourth Annual Josh Thompson Poster Contest. This annual Willard / Springfield community contest was organized by a Willard 6th grade teacher in memory of Josh Thompson. Josh was a Willard student who suffered severe burns to 80% of his body in a gas explosion. The purpose of the contest is to educate students about fire safety. Winning poster designs are on display in the Burn Center at St. John’s next to a photograph of Josh.

Art Stars to be recognized….

October will start recognition of our ART STARS. Parents will be notified when their child’s outstanding art work is selected for display in our building. Upon receiving the note, we hope that you will find the time to praise your child for this achievement. When you are at the school, please enjoy the artworks on display!
